How did you develop an interest for carp fishing?
As a baby my dad took me with him on his early morning fishing trips. Of course, I don’t remember those days and I started fishing with my dad when I was 3 years old.  From catching Roach, Bream, Tench, Perch, Pike and Zander, to catching Sharks and Trout in Ireland, I enjoyed all forms of fishing. But it all started when I hooked my first Carp. I was about 7 years old and was stalking on a local pond with a telescopic rod and some sweetcorn and maggots. A big black cloud in the water and a showing tail caught my attention. It was a carp feeding. From the moment I hooked that fish I became a carp angler

What is the most memorable angling moment thus far?

The most memorable moment in my 25+ years of carp fishing is the first time I caught a 10kg carp. I was 11 years old and went fishing with a friend. The weather was really bad and we had to take shelter because of a thunderstorm. After the storm passed, I saw a big group of carp feeding in front of a water inlet. I carefully dropped my rig in the middle of the feeding carp. There was one massive carp in the whole group and to my surprise it went straight for my sweetcorn rig. My float started to move and I hooked the fish. The big common went straight for the Lily pads and I could not do anything. I thought I lost the fish, but I could see the lilies moving. After a brief moment of total panic, I jumped in the water. I somehow managed to free the carp and the fight continued. The landing net we had with us was way to small and I asked my friend to quickly go to my home and get my dad’s bigger net. It took him a while and when he came back, I already got the carp on the bank. I grabbed it with my bare hands and held on to it as if my life depended on it. The feeling of joy and accomplishment was indescribable. Even till this day I remember everything that happened.

I knew Hans and Quint Ramerman and after they bought the brand Ntec I started testing their products. When it comes to end tackle, I’m pretty demanding. It must be strong and reliable under all conditions. The Ntec products I used and tested did not let me down. Confidence in your end tackle gives you peace of mind and let’s you focus on other aspects in Carp fishing. Therefore, I am honoured to be a part of the Ntec Team.
